Choose your god wisely—

Sunday the 4th of November, 2007 at the north Allegheny Unitarian Universalists church:

“What we worship we are becoming.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Pastor Dave said that Baptist do adult baptisms. After his Baptist water baptism at the age of 9 when his folk were out one afternoon with the TV off (which it seldom was) he went into the back yard and had an epitome ‘there was no god’. A true religious experience from which he heard the cosmos chuckle.

Some friend of his was told that god was this living being in the sky. For the longest time she wondered what a living “bean” looked like & what it was doing in the sky.

God, what more deeply moves and creates more life. In English “god’. Language, language, language…

Few believe that there’s a venerable looking white man with a beard and purple robe throwing lightning bolts when ever he gets mad. This is how we understand forces about us

‘God’ Nichii declared is dead. Long lives god.
The story of Shiva and the Gobes maidens who tended his flock were paid attention to by Shiva, caressing them, there feet, hands and breasts and even scratching them with his finger nails… All of them felt honored to the point of pride and boastfulness and as an argument broke out Shiva left as in vanished.

Your Ego,
Pride,
Your own private universe.

This is why in the UU church we share in community. We share from where we are. Showing our own gods, living out our calling to see the movement of ‘god” in our universe.

Unfortunately people namely worship this god of Ego, Pride… Who has died and thus religion looses its meaning by doing such things as prosecuting wars built on lies and roomer.

We acknowledge the dead ‘god’ and not the one we put in his place. The ‘stuff,’ ‘man’ and materialism become our new ‘god’. Our true ‘god’…
Here in the old USA, high on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs—
To have, to waste and so on…
Are people here having purposeful and meaningful lives?
This ‘STUFF’, our national ‘god’…
The UU church opens up other possibilities. The purest expression of who we aspire to be, “GOD’ as a resource for a fuller and fulfilling life.
(All power-- all knowing-- all loving-- all present---)
We accept the all-loving part freely.
As that purpose and orientation in our lives-- We cannot get away from ‘GOD.’

There are no reflective Atheists.
Socrates victim a not so vainly examined, then by principles commune with ‘GOD” and see if it resonates the truth, your truth…

As long as you know my name “the power of the universe knows my name.”

Theology is the queen of sciences. Surely the greatest blasphemy is that of veils that something is not ‘god’.
Everything is moving, some say evolution—some say ‘god’.

Animate? To what force is ‘god. Against all reason ‘god’ is animating force of life.
Despite the hot gas and the empty spaces of the cosmos— there is ‘GOD’.

See it—
Feel it—
Live it—

In my hands… in your faces…
We commit to our ‘god’ that grows and lives, to your ‘god and what you name it.

The very end of the world looks like the struggle of the pre-modern, monotheistic gods.

Worship your almighty ‘god,’ the real one creating the world of blessings!

On a personal note this is the poetry of eternal rhyme, true illumination! Illumine me!
